Health risks assessments and health surveillance in the work place:
This involves assessing exposures to chemical hazards (COSHH assessments), physical hazard (hand-arm vibration, ionising radiation, noise etc.). Our specialist occupational health physician will act as an HSE Appointed Doctor to carry out health surveillance examinations for exposures such as lead, asbestos, industrial ionising radiation etc. Our occupational health practice nurses can also arrange on site hearing conservation programmes (which would also involve audiometry test) and lung function tests for exposure to sensitizers which cause occupational asthma. Some services may involve blood tests and other special investigations and review of affected employees by our specialist occupational health physician. We will discuss the health risk assessment required with the safety engineer.
Reducing sickness absence:
All our advice will take into consideration of all statutory responsibilities, for example the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), Health and Safety Act. (HSWA).
The sickness management service involve rapid referral to clinical advice, simplified reporting, case conferencing and focus returning employees to work.
A comprehensive occupational health report will be provided by a specialist Occupational Health Physician. The report will focus on any underlying work related contributory factors, date of return to work, overall fitness to continue the employment, necessary job adjustments and will discuss issues such as redeployment and retirement on ill health as appropriate. With agreement from employees, will also obtain medical reports from their GP’s and Specialist if necessary. Reports are clear and will assist the managers and the HR team to take appropriate management decisions on individual employees.
More complex cases may also require telephone discussion with the management/HR team or a case management meeting.
“We work in partnership with customers, delivering quality bespoke services. We have a clear and systematic process for helping line managers and HR personnel to deal with the staff absence.“
We also evaluate employees for ill health retirement.
